Mr. André Drolet – 31 years of involvement with Info-Crime Inc.

Following his departure as outgoing president and member of the organization’s executive committee on September 16, 2026, the Board of Directors of Info-Crime Inc. adopted a motion naming Mr. André Drolet an honorary lifetime member.

Who is this exceptional volunteer?

A native of Quebec City and now 75 years old, André Drolet has dedicated a large part of his life to serving others, notably within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), where he served for over two decades. After leaving the RCMP, he pursued a professional career in various management roles—specifically at the Insurance Bureau of Canada and Marquage Antivol Sherlock—where he continued to leverage his expertise for the benefit of the community.

Beyond his professional achievements, André Drolet has always been actively involved in community projects. Sport, in particular, has played a significant role in his life. As president of the Fédération québécoise de Handball Olympique (FQHO) from 1996 to 2007, he worked tirelessly to establish teams across the province and strengthen local federations. His passion for sport is also reflected in his involvement with other associations, where he supported young athletes and local initiatives.

Alongside his commitment to sports, Mr. Drolet has devoted many hours to volunteer work on various committees. Notably, he served on the North American Committee on Auto Theft, the Association of Chiefs of Police, the Canadian Coalition Against Insurance Fraud, and the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators, to name but a few.

An exceptional commitment to Info-Crime Inc.

Since 1995, André has been remarkably dedicated to Info-Crime Montréal (Info-Crime Inc.), a partner organization of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). His service on the Board of Directors—where he held various positions—stands as a testament to his commitment. He served as a board member, Vice President of Operations (from 2007 to 2013), and, since 2014, as Chair of the Board. As a volunteer, he distinguished himself as one of the organization’s most loyal and active members, amassing over thirty years of continuous service.

Unfortunately, illness took its toll over the past year, leading Mr. Drolet to decide not to renew his term on the Board of Directors for the coming year. In addition to his role with Info-Crime Montréal, Mr. Drolet has long supported Parkinson Québec, a cause particularly close to his heart, as he has been battling Parkinson’s disease himself for several years.

André Drolet’s dedication and generosity have also been recognized by the federal government. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, an honor bestowed upon Canadians who have made significant contributions to their country or community. Subsequently, in 2024, he received the King Charles III Coronation Medal—further recognition of his pivotal role in society. For the entire Info-Crime Montréal team, as well as for all those who had the privilege of working with him throughout his professional life, André Drolet embodies the spirit of generosity and altruism. His desire to give to others, his steadfastness, and his commitment serve as a true source of inspiration.

Hommage au fondateur Alexander Harper

Le 23 mai 2023 marquait le dévoilement de plaques commémoratives à l’endroit de notre fondateur.

Cet événement d’hommage était très important pour notre organisation avec le dévoilement de plaques commémoratives à l’endroit du président fondateur d’Info-Crime Montréal, feu Alexander-Harper, décédé le 30 décembre 2022. Le conseil d’administration tenait à honorer sa mémoire avec l’installation de plaques commémoratives dans deux édifices du SPVM, soit au poste de quartier 7, situé rue Grenet et au centre opérationnel ouest du SPVM, situé sur le boulevard Thimens, dans l’arrondissement de Saint-Laurent.

Cette initiative était réalisée grâce à l’immense collaboration de l’inspecteur-chef du SPVM, Pascal Richard et du commandant du PDQ 7, Pierre-Luc Gauthier. Le jour du dévoilement, les membres de la famille Harper, le PDG d’ICM, des membres du conseil d’administration d’Info-Crime ainsi que des représentants du SPVM s’étaient donné rendez-vous à 14h00 pour un moment solennel avec le dévoilement d’une première plaque murale installée dans le hall d’entrée du poste 7.

Sur place, le PDG d’ICM, Jean Touchette prenait la parole afin de rendre un hommage posthume au président fondateur Alexander Harper, s’ensuivait une allocution du commandant Pierre-Luc Gauthier, hôte de l’événement. Le maire de l’arrondissement de Saint-Laurent, monsieur Alan DeSousa présent, prenait également la parole puisqu’il a bien connu monsieur Harper, d’autant plus qu’en 1987, lors de sa création, Info-Crime Inc. voyait le jour physiquement dans le secteur de Saint-Laurent.

Lors de l’événement fort en émotion, Lynn Harper, fille aînée d’Alex, prenait la parole au côté de sa maman Yvette, ses sœurs Heather et Catherine et d’autres membres de la famille, afin de remercier les responsables pour la démarche et la cérémonie remplie de gratitude et d’émotion pour toute sa famille. L’oeuvre de monsieur Harper restera donc gravée dorénavant en permanence dans ces lieux publics significatifs pour ICM.
