Montreal - December 3, 2021

Today, Info-Crime Montréal presented its annual report for the period between June 1, 2020 to May 31 2021 to the media.

In figures, during its fiscal year, ICM had 10,624 interactions with citizens, including 5,163 over the phone and 5,488 through the incident report form available on the organization’s website. This marks the first time that digital reports outnumbered those made over the 514-393-1133 hotline.

There is no question that the great success of Info-Crime Montréal results mainly from the great cooperation of the public and the generosity of our partners. Clearly, Montrealers make the difference (have an impact on solving investigation files) by passing on information of all sorts of criminal activities which they have witnessed in their daily lives.

Beyond its main mission of compiling information communicated by citizens, this year, ICM made again made financial contributions to several crime prevention projects run by the Prevention and Urban Security Division of the SPVM. Over the course of the year, more than $50,000 (tens of thousands of dollars) were invested in major projects, including E=MC2, Émic and Garage 529.

For ICM’s management team, prevention is a very important tool in the fight against crime, and working proactively with all participants on the ground is certainly the best solution for a safer metropolis.

Even though most citizens who send us information want nothing in return, and report incidents to us out of a sense of civic duty, as our maxim puts it so well ``Report out of self-respect``; today we are announcing with enthusiasm that we are upgrading our reward program by increasing the maximum reward from $2,000 to $3,000. At ICM, we are convinced that together we can reduce crime.
